I don’t think I’m too off course when I say that we all, kind of, take the moon for granted. It’s that natural satellite of Earth, visible most clearly at night. It was formed 4.51 billion years ago, around 30 to 50 million years after the formation of the solar system. It is the second brightest object in the sky after the sun and it is sometimes referred to as ‘the sailor’s friend’.
It sure has had time to perfect its moonlike duties; it’s the main cause of the tides and it stabilises the Earth’s rotation. It waxes and wanes throughout the month, so it is a busy natural satellite always up to something. The longest total lunar eclipse of the 21st century took place on the 27th of July 2018. Millions of people worldwide tried to get a glimpse of the Blood Moon in all its glory. So people do have a certain fascination to take a closer look,
So, why all this chit chat about the moon. I hear you mutter under your breath. Well it’s because my question is, “Does the moon or state of the moon have anything to do with your luck?” Or more to the point your chances of bringing home the bees and honey, cockney rhyming slang for money no less. I ask because it has been noted that payouts at big casinos are higher at the time of a full moon…and we are talking up to 2%. The cynics will say “Pure
coincidence!” but I’m going to keep an open mind on this matter. So, next question is “How many full moons are there in a year?” 7 times in 19 years there were, and still are, 13 full moons in a year. What! 13…unlucky for some…but bingo bosses will vouch that the number 13 is one of the luckiest numbers for their clients. That’s information to consider and keep under your belt. They say the full moon can influence your behaviour and may give
gamblers better luck.
Most seasoned gamblers will freely admit that they are somewhat superstitious and swear by their lucky talisman, which seems to make them feel that they have that edge; that extra kick to increase their positive vibe. Acknowledging their talisman’s powers gets their adrenaline flowing through their veins and they believe that they can win; be it online slots, online bingo or at a bricks and mortar casino.
Now, let’s add another dimension to this mix and think about the lunar effect on your luck possibly being increased at that special time around a full moon. Do a little survey on yourself and target when you are most lucky and what stage the moon’s at. You may be pleasantly surprised! Or look back to your last lucky spell and consider if it could have had anything to do with the phase of the moon and its supposed lunar magic. See if you can establish a pattern. One thing’s for sure…don’t dismiss the theory until you have given it a fair crack of the whip. If anything, it just adds to the fun…and that’s what bingo is all about; having fun and enjoying the experience. And a little lunar magic in your possession is not to be sneezed at. Gratefully received more like it!
One thing I’m not going to do, however, is stand under a full moon with an open purse or wallet and say “Fill it up several times!” and expect to be surprised by a windfall. I do have my limits! I’ve got a feeling my neighbours might think that I have well and truly lost the plot this time, for sure.
Anyway, enjoy your bingo, lunar influenced or not. That’s entirely up to you to decide. Have fun regardless.
